Profile

Hi my name is Jacci Jones. I often get asked ‘What is the difference between a psychotherapist and a counsellor?’ A therapist can often provide both counselling and psychotherapy, because psychotherapy often requires more training. A psychotherapist is qualified to provide counselling. Whereas a counsellor may or may not possess the necessary training and skills to provide psychotherapy. Technically speaking, ‘counsellor’ means “advisor.” It involves two people working together to solve a problem. Psychotherapy on the other hand is generally a longer-term treatment that focuses more on gaining insight into chronic physical and emotional issues. Its focus is on the person’s thought processes, and how these may be influenced by past events that may cause problems in the present. I qualified as a psychotherapist in Transactional Analysis at the Manchester Institute for Psychotherapy. I am a mum of three amazing children and in my working life over the last 20 years, I have facilitated training in various establishments for Foster carers, Social Services, Parents, Teachers and other Therapists via conferences and training programmes. Being a foster carer for 12 years, mainly fostering teenage boys with severely challenging behaviour, lead me to train in Psychotherapy. I now run a successful private practice in Chorley, Lancashire. As well as being a co founder of Parent-Plus. More recently I have updated my training to include Coaching, NLP and ‘The 3 Principles’. I offer face to face coaching and therapy from my practice in Chorley, Lancashire or via online video calls.

This course covers how awareness of how we think and feel about events that happen to us contribute to our levels of stress. It is aimed to get you thinking, and reflecting on how you perceive stressful situations, with the view to using this to help you manage these events.

The course topics cover:

Ego States
What are Ego States. How they contribute to good communication, or create conflict and stress

Life Script
What is a Life Script. How does it impact how we react and approach things. How can we change the script?

Drama Triangle
The Drama Triangle. What it is. How we move through it, and how it can mean it can create stressful situations for you (but perhaps not for someone else).

"I learned a great deal about the stages of development of behaviour, and I did not realise that these stages occur throughout your life and not just in your early years."

Once you understand how it works, and how you filter other people’s actions, it helps you in turn, to better understand them.
Once understanding has started, then helping the other person becomes easier.

Our wonderful presenter, Jacci, from Jacci Jones Coaching calls the steps needed to understand all this, an ‘Exploration of Behaviour’.

In this course, Jacci helps us explore the main aspects of behaviour through the following steps:

  • Ages and Stages of Development
  • Self Esteem
  • Drivers of Behaviour
  • L.E.A.V.E. Approach
  • 3 Principles

We would strongly recommend anyone who is interested in this topic, or as pre-requisite for viewing a follow on topic such as “Challenging Behaviour in the classroom”
